In a major step toward strengthening local journalism and digital media, the Government today inaugurated a state-of-the-art Digital Media Hub aimed at supporting news organizations, independent reporters, and content creators.

The newly launched facility will provide access to modern studios, high-speed internet, digital publishing tools, and training programs focused on ethical journalism and emerging media technologies. Officials said the initiative is designed to empower regional voices and improve the quality of news dissemination across platforms such as print, e-paper, live TV, and digital magazines.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting stated,

“This Digital Media Hub will serve as a backbone for responsible journalism. Our goal is to ensure that accurate, timely, and credible news reaches every citizen, especially in regional and rural areas.”

Media professionals welcomed the initiative, highlighting its potential to create employment opportunities for young journalists and technical staff. Several startups in the media sector are also expected to benefit from shared infrastructure and mentorship support.

According to officials, the hub will collaborate with news portals, e-paper publishers, and live TV platforms to promote innovation in content delivery, including mobile-first reporting and multilingual publications.

The Digital Media Hub is expected to become fully operational within the next three months, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition toward a more inclusive and technology-driven media ecosystem.
